Ranked 12th in MTV's "22 Greatest Voices in Music" survey, ahead of such
icons as David Bowie, Steven Tyler and Bruce Springsteen; Chris Cornell,
the voice who behind Soundgarden, Audioslave and Temple of the Dog, has
been called "the single most dynamic rock and roll force produced by the
Grunge Revolution of the early '90s." But Cornell would have little to
sing without an equally powerful facility as a lyricist. Nine years
after the breakup of his band Soundgarden - through which he paved the
way for the Seattle grunge sound, Cornell has become an enduring musical
and cultural icon.
Cornell was recently in the studio with Grammy Award-winning British
super-producer Steve Lillywhite (U2, Rolling Stones, Morrissey, Dave
Matthews Band) working on his latest solo effort, entitled Carry On.
This marks his 13th career album and was released in early Spring 2007
on Suretone/Interscope Records.
In addition, Cornell recently released the single "You Know My Name,"
the main title track for the current James Bond installment, CASINO
ROYALE. Written in collaboration with Bond composer David Arnold, the
song is gaining praise from critics and fans alike.
Don't miss Chris Cornell at The Centre in Vancouver for Performing Arts
on Tuesday, October 2nd.

Ladies and gentlemen, The Aliens have landed. Armed with a bottomless
bag of psychedelically inclined rock and acid dipped electronics, The
Aliens bring a freedom of spirit and a certainty of intent that
immediately sets them out from the current crop of guitar slingers.
Inspired by Sergio Leone and Serge Gainsbourg, Brian Eno and Brian
Wilson, Larry David and Ol' Dirty Bastard, their songs in the key of
Fife reference the past whilst belonging resolutely to the future.
The Aliens are Gordon Anderson, John Maclean and Robin Jones, and
between them they have been responsible for some of the most enthralling
British music of the last decade. School friends Anderson and Maclean
met Jones at Edinburgh College of Art, and musical collaborations soon
followed. The Scottish trio were all founding members of The Beta Band,
under which moniker Maclean and Jones spent 8 years touring, recording,
DJing, making films and wearing jumpsuits with fluorescent piping.
Anderson co-wrote "Dry The Rain," the defining single which secured a
record deal for the band.
The Beta Band split in 2004. By 2006, The Aliens released Alienoid
Starmonica, a four song EP that was as intense as it was fleet-footed.
And finally, the spring of 2007 lead to the release of their
self-produced debut album, Astronomy For Dogs.
Don't miss The Aliens live at Richard's On Richards on Monday, October
1st.
VAN HALEN AND DAVID LEE ROTH ANNOUNCE NORTH AMERICAN TOUR
HISTORIC CONCERT TOUR MARKS FIRST OF ITS KIND

LOS ANGELES, CA -- August 13, 2007 Beginning this September, in
what promises to be the most exciting live tour this year, Van Halen
will embark on a national concert tour throughout the U.S. and Canada

tours in rock and roll history, Roth, guitarist Eddie Van Halen and
drummer Alex Van Halen will perform with Eddie's son, Wolfgang who joins
the line-up as the band's bass player. Van Halen and Roth have not
performed or recorded together since 1984's classic multi-platinum album

Van Halen remains one of the most important and influential bands of all
time. Formed in Los Angeles in 1974, the band quickly won a loyal
hometown fan base with their electrifying live shows. From the moment
they released their self-titled 1978 debut album, Van Halen shook the
foundations of rock, thanks largely to Roth's peerless showmanship,
Eddie Van Halen's revolutionary guitar virtuosity and their songwriting
abilities. It changed rock music forever.
The band's first album proved one of the biggest selling rock debuts,
with key tracks like "Eruption," "Running with the Devil," "Jamie's
Cryin'," "You Really Got Me" and "Ain't Talkin' 'Bout Love" leading the
way. The next year, the band followed up with "Van Halen II," which
included the hit "Dance the Night Away."
Subsequent albums like "Women and Children First" (1980), "Fair Warning"
(1981) and "Diver Down" (1982), along with worldwide touring, solidified
the band's reputation for innovative and unparalleled live performances.
Classic Van Halen tracks from the early 80's include "Everybody Wants
Some," "Unchained", "And The Cradle Will Rock", "Beautiful Girls", "Mean
Street" and "Somebody Get Me A Doctor" just to name a few.
With their sixth album, released in, and titled "1984", Van Halen rose
to stratospheric heights. Recorded at Eddie Van Halen's 5150 Studios,
the multi-platinum smash yielded one of Van Halen's signature hits,
"Jump," which remained #1 on the Billboard charts for an astounding five
weeks straight. Other hits from the album include "Panama," "Hot For
Teacher" and "I'll Wait."
The band's record of achievement is hard to top. Presented with two
Diamond Award RIAA Certified Status' for their albums "Van Halen" and
"1984", Van Halen joins an elite short list of two time Diamond Award
honorees in the history of the music industry. The Diamond Award is
presented to an artist for album sales of 10 million or more units.
They are also in the Guinness Book of World Records for having the most
#1 hits on Billboard's Mainstream Rock chart than any other band in
history.
Inducted into the Rock 'N' Roll Hall of Fame in March of this year, Van
Halen has produced a treasured body of work that fans will admire for
decades to come.

An escalating drum roll opens Our Ill Wills, the sophomore album from Shout Out
Louds. And rightly so. It's been a few years since the release of their first
full-length record, the critically acclaimed Howl Howl Gaff Gaff. But the band's
been anything but lazy. These last few years have seen their passports fill up with
stamps and their photo albums with snap shots from all corners of the world. They've
done their own headline tours as well as being the support act of choice for bands
such as The Strokes, The Magic Numbers and Kings Of Leon. Being on the road means
you got plenty of time. To think. To drink. To reminisce the past. To play computer
games. To miss loved ones. To get lost in new towns. To misbehave and to get your
priorities in order. It's all there, on Our Ill Wills. Well, maybe not the computer
games so much.
Swedish indie pop hopefuls Shout Out Louds were formed in Stockholm by childhood
friends Adam (vocals), Ted (bass), and Carl (guitars) in 2001. Soon after they were
joined by Eric (drums) and Bebban (vocals, keys) and began writing songs. The first
three they wrote formed the basis of their first demo tape. The songs caught the ear
of Filip Wilén, the owner of Sweden's Bud Fox Recordings, and he quickly signed
them. The group spent 2002 writing more songs and recorded four of them for a debut
EP, 2003's 100. The group's high-energy, ultra-melodic sound was in place from the
very beginning. The band toured around Sweden and Scandinavia following its release
and followed up the EP with two singles, "Hurry Up Let's Go" and "Shut Your Eyes."
In October of 2003 the group released its first album, Howl Howl Gaff Gaff, which
produced the singles "Please Please Please" and "Very Loud/Wish I Was Dead", to
great acclaim in Sweden.

Ok, so let's get this straight. Five guys originally from New Orleans,
in four different bands, got together many moons ago and started a
little side project called Down. Featuring vocalist Phil Anselmo from
Pantera, drummer Jimmy Bower from Crowbar, and guitarist Pepper Keenan
from Corrosion of Conformity, it seemed innocent enough, just a couple
of freaks who were into bands which were into Sabbath -- before it was
cool to be into Sabbath. They would jam and blow their heads off in this
little garage, and then something started to happen. They weren't just
blowing off steam and "Sabb-ing out"; they were coming up with some
serious stuff.
Six years later, this Down swamp creature they created will not kick the
ol' bucket. Over the last six years, the members of Down have been
constantly asked by press and fans alike, from Christchurch, New Zealand
to Kansas City, "What's up with Down?" It seems to have taken on a life
of its own, purely supported by freaks who kept listening to it and
asking for it. Very little radio, even less promotion, and still even
fewer live shows. It spread like some kind of yellow fever to basically
become a staple heavy metal record.
The album Nola sold close to half a million copies worldwide; not bad
for a band that only played thirteen shows and can't even remember the
color of their own tour bus. They eventually decided that Down was not
the kind of band that can be confined to a studio. Lo and behold, they
came up with a genius idea to isolate themselves in a barn (later to be
christened "Nodferatu's Lair") in an undisclosed swamp somewhere in
South Louisiana. Slept upstairs and rocked downstairs. Shipped in enough
gear to get their point across (loudly), and got two Yankees with their
heads half screwed on (half more than the band's) to turn the knobs.
One of the coolest things about Down is the fact that they don't have
any preconceived notions about what is to come. When Down is in the
"Lair" - candles lit, ice chest packed, puffin' and passing, all fired
up - they have no clue what's going to happen, which is a beautiful
thing. This freedom allows them to write anything from mellow material
like "Where I'm Going", to slammers like "The Seed". Wherever their
heads are at, good or bad, up or down, this is what makes Down tick.
Don't miss Down at the Commodore Ballroom on Thursday, October 4th,
2007.

Irish/English duo VNV Nation continue to leap from strength to strength,
emerging as a powerhouse in the alternative rock electronic and
industrial scenes. Their unique blend of contemporary electronic styles,
industrial, rock and dance element, thematic lyrics and inspiring,
emotive vocals ranges from hard-hitting electronic beats to haunting
ballads and symphonic orchestrations. VNV Nation have earned incredible
acclaim for their energetic live shows and gained a fanatical worldwide
following.
Their last album Matter and Form (2005) was hailed by critics for its
high-impact array of tone and sound - from the raw, punch of "Chrome",
the soulful sounds of "Homeward" and "Endless Skies", to the uplifting,
indie-electronic anthem "Perpetual".
In April 2007, the band will released their latest album Judgement which
is their most powerful and unique release to date. Having already broken
the boundaries on Matter and Form, VNV Nation take their music to new
heights, creating a sound that is a collision of future and past, ever
present insight, energy and emotion.
The letters VNV stand "Victory not Vengeance". The meaning behind this
stylised motto is that one should strive to achieve, not sit in bitter
regret.
The band have embarked on a world tour that hits Vancouver's Plaza Club
on September 26th.
