After a sold out show at Richard's on Richards in June, Brandi Carlile makes
a triumphant return to Vancouver's most beautiful venue, the Commodore
Ballroom.

Shortly after the release of her critically-acclaimed self-titled Red Ink
debut (Rolling Stone named her one of the magazine's "10 Artists To Watch in
2005") -- Carlile left her home in Seattle and set out with twin brothers Tim
(guitar) and Phil (bass) Hanseroth, with whom she'd worked on her earliest
recordings and independent regional tours. The tightly knit trio, which forms
the core of her band today, spent the better part of two years on the road.
By the end of 2006, Brandi Carlile had embarked on several headlining tours
and supported a variety of artists including Ray LaMontagne, The Fray, Chris
Isaak, Tori Amos, and Shawn Colvin. The sound and songs of The Story first
formed during the rigors of touring as Brandi began working the new songs
into the band's repertoire, road-testing and refining the material under the
spotlights, giving each performance its own character.

On her new album, The Story, Brandi Carlile opens up her heart, soul, and
psyche in a series of memorable songs that invite you into her world. To her
growing community of fans, it's Carlile's revelatory imagery, stark emotive
vocals and finely-detailed songs which provide the keys to who she is, where
she's been, and where's she's going. Driven by Carlile's dynamic vocals, the
album's 13 tracks pulse with a raw and road-worthy intensity that is much
closer to her live concert sound than her self-titled debut album. "The new
songs may surprise people who only know us through the first album," Brandi
says. "If you've seen us play, you'll realize this is the direction we've
been heading in the whole time."

Don't miss Brandi Carlile with special guests A Fine Frenzy at the Commodore
Ballroom on Saturday, October 27, 2007.

**GENERAL ADMISSION**

With their new album Zeitgeist set for a July 10th release, The Smashing
Pumpkins have announced a full North American tour. Kicking off with a pair
of festival performances (September 8 in Montreal and September 9 in
Toronto), the trek will take the band to theatres and amphitheatres across
the continent. The fall tour--the band's first full-scale North American tour
since 2000--is highlighted by stops in such cities as Boston and Philadelphia
where the group will perform multiple nights, including eleven nights at The
Filmore in San Francisco.

Zeitgeist-the sixth Smashing Pumpkins album and first since 2000--doesn't
just capture the spirit of our times, as the title might suggest. Even more
impressively, Zeitgeist is a heartfelt, ambitious and deeply felt piece of
work that vividly recaptures the spirit of this great and influential rock
band. The release of Zeitgeist represents a powerful rebirth and
reaffirmation of the Smashing Pumpkins by two of its key members, main
singer-songwriter and guitarist Billy Corgan and drummer Jimmy Chamberlin.

This second coming of the Pumpkins is also one of those rare examples of
actual truth in 21st Century Advertising. Two years ago -- on the release
date of his first solo album -- Corgan made headlines around the alternative
rock universe by taking out ads in his hometown papers the Chicago Tribune
and the Chicago Sun-Times, an open letter publicly declaring his desire and
intention to try "renewing and reviving" the Smashing Pumpkins. "I want my
band back," he wrote, "and my songs, and my dreams."

More than two years later -- much of it spent working closely together first
in Scottsdale, Arizona and later in Los Angeles -- Corgan and Chamberlin have
managed to make good and then some on every line of Corgan's declaration of
non-independence. Right from the thrilling yet apocalyptic opening notes of
"Doomsday Clock" to the final resounding chords of "Pomp And Circumstances,"
Zeitgeist is quite clearly the sound of a rock group that has been
emphatically renewed and revived and is now ready to embrace and further its
musical legacy.

Formed in Chicago in 1988, The Smashing Pumpkins released Gish, their
influential (and platinum) debut in 1991, which was followed by more platinum
and multi-platinum albums including the nine-times platinum Mellon Collie And
The Infinite Sadness and the four-times platinum Siamese Dream. The pivotal
group's many hits include "Disarm," "Today," "Cherub Rock," "1979," "Tonight,
Tonight" and "Bullet With Butterfly Wings" -- songs that defined the
alternative music era and continue to resonate on modern rock radio,
influencing a whole new generation.

Corgan and Chamberlin are now on point to bring the band to life on the road.
Their May 22nd show in Paris was the first Smashing Pumpkins show since
December 2, 2000.

The Smashing Pumpkins are back with a new album, Zeitgeist. Don't miss your
chance to see them on Monday, September 24th at the P.N.E. Forum.

Formed by the rhythm section of wildly popular Canuck new wavers Metric, Bang
Lime is squeezing out some manic melodies of its own. On Best Friends in
Love, Bang Lime's debut, drummer Joules Scott-Key and vocalist/guitarist
Joshua Winstead have come up with an album's worth of sneering, sinewy rock
songs. On danceable, rock-oriented tracks like "The Death of Death",
"Equator", and "Free White and 21", which made it onto the Toronto Star's
Anti-Hit list, the Oakland-based duo show they've learned a lot about
songwriting hooks and captivating moods in their years setting the pace for
Metric.

Bang Lime is the culmination of a collaboration that began when Joules and
Josh met in 1991 at the University of North Texas. A decade later the musical
soulmates hooked up with Emily Haines and James Shaw to form Metric, a band
which has released two wildly successful albums, Old World Underground, Where
Are You Now? and Live it Out, and generated sold-out tours. A third Metric
album, with Joules and Josh back in their usual roles, is expected to start
recording sometime next year. In the meantime, the two are focused on Bang
Lime, and on providing a raucous live show to go with the rough-hewn,
ready-to-rock tunes.

Don't miss Bang Lime with special guests on Friday, August 17th at The Plaza
Club.

Combining the best that punk, rock, alt-country and folk have to offer with
distinct vocals and poetic lyrics, The Weakerthans music has been described
as rich in detailed craftsmanship, with plenty of unsettling textures, daring
experiments and recurring lyrical and melodic imagery (Toronto Sun). The
band's forthcoming album will be no different. Assuming the reigns as
producer again, Ian Blurton is working with the band to refine the assortment
of songs for the new album.

Canadian rockers, The Weakerthans have returned to the studio to record their
fourth album, which will debut this fall from Anti-/Epitaph Records. For the
group's latest effort they've sought out the quiet, tranquil surroundings of
Winnipeg, Canada where they will spend the next several weeks recording
before heading to Toronto to finish the record. Surrounded by
slaughterhouses, industrial sites and sub-degree temperatures, The
Weakerthans will hash out over five years worth of material they have written
for the follow-up to 2003's critically acclaimed album, Reconstruction Site,
which has been hailed as a witty and intelligent collection of indie power
pop (Performing Songwriter).

Drawing on their inspirations from art and culture as well as their diverse
musical pasts, Canada's bona-fide rock and roll poet laureates (Playboy.com)
continue to produce thought provoking music that lives and breathes
passionately (No Depression).

Don't miss The Weakerthans live at the Commodore Ballroom on Saturday,
October 6, 2007.

Howard Stern once famously called himself, only half-jokingly, "King of All
Media." But the controversial radio host had nothing on Henry Rollins.

Rollins, of course, got his start as the lead singer of one of the most
seminal American punk bands of all time, Black Flag. But music is only one of
his passions. While the super-fit, ultra-buff frontman has pursued a career
in rock with the Rollins Band, he has also become one of the most in-demand
spoken word performers of the day. Cantankerous, controversial, and
out-spoken, Rollins is a raconteur of the first order, one who is able to
capture and hold the attention of thousands with his stories, anecdotes, and
riffs. Recently, he has been using his talents overseas to entertain the
troops, while his latest spoken word DVD is Henry Rollins: Uncut from NYC.

An actor, author, TV and radio personality, as well as a human rights
activist, Rollins is truly the punk rock king of all media.

Don't miss your chance to see Henry Rollins at The Centre in Vancouver for
Performing Arts on Tuesday, October 30th.

Tickets also at Zulu, Red Cat and Scratch

Black Lips are kings of the psychedelic garage rock underground. They started
the band when they were 15 years old and spent the next seven years touring
the world, booking themselves, playing for scraps. Underground parties,
basement shows, outlaw festivals, the odd tour opening for Yeah Yeah Yeah's
and Be Your Own Pet, plus three classic albums, countless 7"s, a couple DVDs,
and their own seminal garage rock label Die Slaughterhaus cemented their
reputation. They're now 22 years old, grizzled veterans of the underground,
and legends in the scene.
Now's when they explode. Their unpredictable live show has turned them into
the most notorious band on the road-- three singers singing lead on almost
every song, flying blood, group kissing, sudden nudity, fireworks explosions,
and pissing into their mouths and onto the audience are just some of the
tricks up their sleeve. Their latest release Los Valientes del Mundo Nuevo
perfectly captures the excitement and chaos of their live show while
showcasing all of their greatest hits. It's the perfect prize for fans and
the ultimate introduction for beginners.
Playing self-coined "flower punk" in the vein of Nuggets-faves The Seeds and
The 13th Floor Elevators, live or on record it's hard to hide the fun these
boys have and impossible to describe how uninhibited audiences get at their
shows. Black Lips have tapped into a very secret well that everyone wants to
drink from. Black Lips release their new studio record Septmember 18th on
Vice Recordings.

You won't want to miss Black Lips at Richard's on Richards on Thursday,
October 11th.

We've seen him on TV. We've heard him on the radio. We've watched him accept
three Juno Awards, four MuchMusic Awards, six Canadian Urban Music Awards, a
Source Award, garner a Grammy nomination, perform hit singles and reach
platinum-plus status with 'Joyful Rebellion' and the '?Publicity Stunt?' DVD.
And while these accomplishments brought k-os great pride, he hopes that with
his latest album ATLANTIS - Hymns for Disco, people can focus on the music
rather than the accolades.

This observation is at the musical heart of his third album, ATLANTIS - Hymns
for Disco. Here, k-os challenged himself by creating a sonic landscape that
shows no boundaries and crosses many musical styles, sounds and generations.
And while it was certainly not his intention, he had no choice but to make
his most personal and revealing album yet.

"To use your voice in the world is the greatest responsibility of an artist,"
says k-os. "As an expressionist, I get to cleanse my emotions and thoughts
through music so that they don't fester and become toxic. When an artist
expresses their truth honestly and with a pure heart, they can end up
speaking for a myriad of people. From a very specific experience can come a
general understanding and healing."

On his two previous albums, Exit and Joyful Rebellion, k-os gave his insight
on the current and future state of hip-hop and many timely issues from
politics and fame to humanity. Now, on ATLANTIS - Hymns for Disco, instead of
holding up a mirror to the world and hiding behind it, he has turned the
mirror onto himself. He is inviting listeners to experience someone who's in
the process of accepting all points of his character and to hear about the
most private and vulnerable parts of his life, which include tales of
self-discovery, love and heartbreak.

Don't miss k-os with You Say Party! We Say Die! at Malkin Bowl on Saturday,
September 2nd.

Velvet Revolver is the real rock star supernova-a hard rock conglomeration
involving three former members of Guns N' Roses, one ex-Stone Temple Pilot,
and a vet '80s of hardcore punk act Wasted Youth. Together, Slash, Matt
Sorum, Duff McKagan, Scott Weiland, and Dave Kushner make up one of the most
exciting recording and touring combos of the day.

Contraband, the group's 2004 debut, entered the Billboard charts at #1.
Britain, Australia, and Canada also fell under the Velvet Revolver spell, as
singles like "Slither" and "Fall to Pieces" (both of which went to #1 on the
U.S. mainstream rock charts) and "Dirty Little Thing" continued to storm
airwaves worldwide. Along with the chart success, the group's rigorous
touring helped sell two million copies of Contraband. Preceded by the hit
"She Builds Quick Machines", Libertad, the band's follow-up, entered the
Billboard 200 at #5. With the new record comes the Re-Evolution Tour, which
promises to give rock fans what they want-sizzling hot, honest rock 'n' roll
played with precision and passion.

Alice in Chains became one of the most famous names in grunge with its debut
Facelift. The 1990 album epitomized the dark, moody sound which the Seattle
group became famous for, and wich captured the imaginations of millions of
listeners. Subsequent records such as Dirt and the #1 EP Jar of Flies kept
Alice in Chains at the forefront of the hard rock scene. Following the band's
1995 self-titled release and tour, however, Chains members went off in
different directions. It wasn't until after the untimely death of singer
Layne Staley in 2002 that the remaining members considered getting together
to play Alice in Chains material. With William Duvall joining them on vocals,
the band played a series of low-key club dates. Now, as part of Velvet
Revolver's Re-Evolution Tour, Alice in Chains is ready to take back its
rightful title as one of North America's premiere hard rock acts.

Don't miss Velvet Revolver with special guests Alice in Chains and Sparta on
Friday, September 7th at the Pacific Coliseum.

**GENERAL ADMISSION / EARLY SHOW**

Doors: 7:00pm Show: 7:15pm

On Beauty & Crime, her Blue Note Records debut and her first studio album in
six years, Suzanne Vega uses New York City as the backdrop for a collection
of eleven new songs juxtaposing acoustic guitar-driven melodies with coolly
synthesized beats; intensely personal lyrics with compelling, short
story-like narratives; and images of today's scarred cityscape with memories
of Vega's old Upper West Side 'hood and Lower East Side haunts.

For fans that have grown up with the artist behind such hits as "Luka" (a # 3
smash from her worldwide 1987 hit album Solitude Standing that earned her
three Grammy nominations), the disc is a revealing look into Vega's evolution
as songwriter and recording artist. For newcomers, it affords an opportunity
to discover a unique voice that has, much like fellow die-hard New Yorker Lou
Reed's, been shaped by keenly observing urban life.

Vega has always been an adventurous artist, stretching the boundaries of the
singer-songwriter format. When British producers DNA famously remixed her
"Tom's Diner", giving the original a cappella tune an ongoing life as a
sought-after sample, they were simply responding to something Vega herself
had done, adding to the rhythm already planted in the song's melody by the
artist. Similarly, German programmer Karlheinz Brandenburg, the key developer
of the MP3, found Vega's voice to be the perfect template when he began to
work on the audio compression that would revolutionize music distribution,
earning her the nickname "The Mother of the MP3." Last year Vega herself
ventured into the Internet world by becoming the first major recording artist
to perform live in avatar form within the virtual world Second Life.

Don't miss Suzanne Vega with special guests at Richard's on Richards on
November 9th.

After two sold out shows in Vancouver, City and Colour returns to play
Vancouver's most beautiful Theatre the Orpheum, on Monday, September 17th.

City and Colour is Dallas Green. With a poignant vocal styling and lyrics
that speak of impulse and introspection, Green affects his audience by
offering his own personal testimony.

Taking it all in stride, Green remained sincere, and affable, debuting his
full-length album entitled Sometimes under his solo moniker City and Colour
in November 2005. A culmination of music that Green has been writing for over
a decade, the album achieved Platinum certification in 2006, surpassing any
expectations he had. Critically acclaimed solo performances, a special
appearance at Burton Cumming's Songwriter's Circle during the 2005 Junos
(cited by Media as a highlight of the Junos) and a performance at the 2006
MuchMusic Video Awards, where Green won "PEOPLE'S CHOICE FAVOURITE CANADIAN
ARTIST" were just icing on the cake.

City and Colour's latest creation entitled City and Colour Live brings fans
front row and center to experience some of the most memorable moments from
sold out tours across the nation. From Vancouver to Halifax, City and Colour
Live features 13 heart-wrenching live tracks captured on both CD and DVD with
7 bonus tracks combined, a special acoustic performance of Alexisonfire's
"Happiness by the Kilowatt", and a limited edition release contained a USB
drive featuring highlight footage.

Green's melodically driven musical lyricism has earned City and Colour a 2007
Juno for Alternative Album of The Year and a nomination for Jack Richardson
Producer of the Year for "Save Your Scissors".

Don't miss City and Colour live with special guests at the Orpheum Theatre on
Monday, September 17th.

"Don't Matter", the third single from Akon's double platinum and counting
Konvicted, has soared to the top of the Hot 100 Singles, Hot 100 Airplay, and
the Rhythm Crossover format. The track follows the hit multi-platinum
superstar artist/writer/producer's hits "Smack That" (with Eminem) and "I
Wanna Love You". The video for the top-requested song is also breaking new
ground, becoming a mainstay at BET, VH-1, and MTV. Plus, Akon has recently
emblazoned his signature vocals and/or production style on songs by Bone
Thugs N' Harmony, Three 6 Mafia, T.I., and Chili of TLC, as well as on his
collaborations with Gwen Stefani.

The Senegalese singer (and son of an accomplished jazz musician), Akon first
hit the charts in 2003 with his debut Trouble, which featured the single
"Locked Up". Konvicted is his second album.

Rihanna hit the ground running with her 2005 single "Pon De Replay". The
irresistibly catchy tune, from her debut Music of the Sun, peaked at number
two on the U.S. Billboard Top 100. The album hit the top 10 in Canada and the
U.S., and sold two million copies worldwide.

After touring with Gwen Stefani, the Barbados-born singer released her
sophomore album, A Girl Like Me, and acted in her first film role in Bring it
On Yet Again. The first single "S.O.S.", which utilized the electro-funk of
Soft Cell's '80s hit "Tainted Love", was used by Nike as a theme song and was
Rihanna's first number one. Her latest is Good Girl Gone Bad, which has
already given her the top ten singles "Umbrella" (with Jay-Z) and "Shut Up
and Drive".

Funk is the preacher and love is the teacher when it comes to Satellite
Party. The new group formed by Jane's Addiction/Porno for Pyros/Lollapalooza
mastermind Perry Farrell, Satellite Party mixes rock and dance grooves on
songs where bliss is paramount on its debut Ultra Payloaded.

For his new project, Farrell has found the perfect foil in Nuno Bettencourt.
The Extreme shredder was brought on board to add slashing guitars and funky
keyboards to Perry's vision of a musical world where dance and rock could
coexist peacefully. The Jane's Addiction singer also brought in friends like
Fergie, Flea, John Frusciante, and Thievery Corporation (for the
collaboration "The Solutionists"). The most unusual guest is Jim Morrison-a
previously unreleased vocal track by the Doors frontman forms the basis of
the song "Woman in the Window". An ardent environmentalist, Perry ensured the
disc came in eco-friendly packaging.

Ultra Payloaded also features the first single "Wish Upon a Dog Star". With
the album's mix of echo-laden Eastern-tinged psychedelia, pulsating new wave,
reggae, sinewy punk, and string-topped '70s funk, Perry Farrell continues his
mission to unite a nation under one groove. The band's live shows are a
reflection of this musical maverick's mission to loosen people up and join
the party.
