**GENERAL ADMISSION / LICENSED SHOW 19+**

Throughout his most accomplished work to date, Broken (and other rogue
states), Luke Doucet masterfully effects wonder in the familiar and
familiarizes the foreign. Coming together with his band like a zipper
closing, he features just as many artists as there are teeth in a Levi's fly.

With three Veal albums under his belt (Hot Loser, 1996; Tilt O'Whirl, 1999;
Embattled Hearts, 2003), a smash solo debut (Aloha, Manitoba, 2001), a live
album (Outlaws, 2004), and an armful of notable producer credits including
two albums each by NQ Arbuckle and Melissa McLelland, Luke Doucet indelibly
brings his sensibilities to all projects as a visionary and the pioneer of a
new movement in music. Spearheading a modern genre, country verité is Luke's
rogue angel. Fallen from tradition he walks in time, on earth, from the heart
in technicolour. Broken (and other rogue states) is Luke Doucet's most
revolutionary work yet. It is the beginning of a new era for artists and fans
everywhere.

Don't miss Luke Doucet live with special guest Melissa McClelland at the
Media Club on Friday, August 24.

"Wagner and Foo sing together in a compressed, modal boy-girl blend that,
against hurricane feedback and booming trebled bass guitar, sounds like the
Jesus and Mary Chain with Blondie's Debbie Harry at the mike. Or the Ramones
fronted by a Gregorian Shangri-Las."

-ROLLING STONE

Sometimes it takes an outsider's perspective to put a new spin on something
we take for granted. That's the case with The Raveonettes, a Danish duo who
take familiar elements from the last 40-plus years of rock 'n' roll, from the
Shangri-las and Buddy Holly to the Velvet Underground and the Jesus and Mary
Chain, and turn them into something shiny and new.

Self-confident and ambitious, the Raveonettes entered the garage rock race of
the new millennium with a stylish, brassy sound not heard since Sonic Youth
's Daydream
Nation . Sune
Rose Wagner
(guitar, vocals) and Sharin Foo
(bass,
vocals) hail from Copenhagen and formed the Raveonettes out of dismay for
their homeland's state of music.

The Raveonettes had a set of rules when it came to creating material. These
rules consisted of making an album entirely in Bb minor, surrounded by only
three chords, and each song had to be less than three minutes long. Ride
cymbals were not allowed, either. What came about was a fuzzy, dark,
cinematic set of songs collected for the Raveonettes' debut album. Whip It On
, which was
written on a four-track and drum machine, fused classic garage rumblings with
frenzied electronic bits. Whip It On
appeared on
Crunchy Frog in Europe in summer 2002. In July, the Raveonettes waltzed into
N.Y.C.'s CBGB for an American introduction. Producer Richard Gottehrer
(Blondie
, Joan
Armatrading ,
the Go-Go's )
caught the show and signed on to work on the band's first full-length album.
A deal with Columbia followed before the year's end, posing the Raveonettes
for some quality buzz in the years to come.

Don't miss The Raveonettes at Richard's on Richards on Monday, October 29th.

Delerium has traditionally been a two-person project, but the only constant
member throughout its history has been Bill Leeb
. Leeb was a guest musician and
early supporter of industrial dance pioneers Skinny Puppy
, but after he left in 1986, he
went on to create his own project, Front Line Assembly
, with collaborator
Michael Balch
.
Later, the two worked on the side project Delerium and released their first
album, Faces, Forms, & Illusions. After Balch left both Front Line Assembly
and Delerium, Leeb worked with Rhys Fulber
, and the two released several
albums under the Delerium moniker; these years saw a gradual stylistic change
from darker ambient to a more danceable sound. After the release of Karma,
Fulber left to pursue other interests, and Leeb teamed up with producer Chris
Peterson to release Poem.
2003, however, saw the reunion of Leeb and Fulber for the release of Chimera,
followed by Nuages du Monde in 2006.

In contrast to Leeb and collaborators' other projects, Delerium has included
several guest vocalists since the release of Semantic Spaces. These have
included mostly women, such as Kristy Thirsk
, Sarah McLachlan
, Leigh Nash
(of Sixpence None the Richer
), Lisa Gerrard
(sampled only), Jaël
(of Swiss band Lunik
), Camille Henderson
, Nerina Pallot
, Emily Haines
(of Metric
), Jacqui Hunt
(of
Single Gun Theory ) and
Isabel Bayrakdarian . Only
two males, other than Leeb himself, have contributed vocals to a Delerium
album: Matthew Sweet
("Daylight", on Poem) and Greg Froese ("Apparition", on Nuages du Monde); in
addition, the noted griot Baaba Maal
was sampled ("Awakenings, on
"Spiritual Archives").

The Mediæval Bæbes
provided the vocal track for, and starred in the video of, Aria; the vocals
are an adapted version of the vocals from "All Turns to Yesterday" on the
Bæbes' Worldes Blysse album. They are also featured on two tracks from
Delerium's 2006 album, Nuages du Monde.

Delerium plays their first show since 2003 at Vancouver's legendary Commodore
Ballroom.

Earlier this year, Arctic Monkeys released Favourite Worst Nightmare. On 29
April 2007
, the day Favourite Worst Nightmare
charted at #1 in the UK Albums Chart
, all 12 tracks from the album
charted in the Top 200 of the UK Singles Chart
, ranging from "Brianstorm
" at #7, to "If You Were There,
Beware" at #189 and they have also been nominated for the 2007 Mercury Prize
which they are favorite to repeat as the winners.

One of the first bands to gain popularity through the Internet, the Arctic
Monkeys had already built up a strong momentum by the time the band issued
its first singles in late 2005/early 2006. Both "I Bet You Look Good on the
Dancefloor" and "When the Sun Goes Down" went straight to #1 in the UK
singles chart. The group's heavily-hyped full-length Whatever People Say I
Am, That's What I'm Not became the fastest-selling debut album in British
music history, received critical acclaim, and won the band numerous awards,
including (but not limited to): the 2006 Mercury Prize; Best New Artist in
the U.S. PLUG Independent Music Awards; Album of the Year awards in Japan and
Ireland; and Best British Band and Best British Album at the 2007 Brit
Awards. A contemporary rock 'n' roll guitar act a la the Libertines, the
Futureheads and Franz Ferdinand, the Monkeys have proven themselves as a
winning live band with sold-out club dates and festival appearances across
the U.K., marked by singalongs and fan participation, as well as a critically
acclaimed 2006 North American tour.

Arctic Monkeys return to Vancouver after a show at The Commodore Ballroom in
May that sold out in under 5 minutes. Don't miss Arctic Monkeys with special
guests The Coral at the PNE Forum on September 30th.

The Noisettes are accurately named-not just for their sound, but also for the
loud splash the London-based trio has made. Fronted by the supremely talented
and beautiful Shingai Shoniwa, the group has taken off in the UK with its
debut What's the Time Mr. Wolf? and is about to do the same in North America.
On songs like "Bridge To Canada" and "Scratch Your Name" (featured in a
speeding car scene in the final episode of The Sopranos) the band brings a
NYC-Brooklyn art aesthetic to their visceral rock 'n' roll.

Live, the band is even more powerful than on record as Shingai patrols the
stage like an Amazonian warrior with an eye for fashion, guitarist Dan Smith
provides heavy, blues- and psychedelic-rock based riffage, and Jamie Morrison
supplies a steady, pounding backbeat. Punk, dirty blues, and acid-rock all
get mixed in Noisettes' thrillingly raucous sound. The band has played the
Coachella Festival and toured with Muse, Bloc Party, TV on the Radio, and
Babyshambles

Don't Miss Noisettes with special guests on Friday, September 28th at The
Plaza Club.

JOSH ROUSE

**GENERAL ADMISSION/19+**

Tickets also available at Zulu and Highlife

After a sold out show at The Red Room in 2006, Josh Rouse returns to
Vancouver to support his latest release. Country Mouse City House is the
seventh proper full-length album from Josh Rouse, one of contemporary music's
most revered songwriters. The disc, which follows two EPs on Josh's label
Bedroom Classics, finds the artist still following his '70s singer/songwriter
muse on a wintry response to his sunnier previous release, 2006's Subtitulo.
Recorded in Spain, where he now lives, and mixed in Nashville, the album
features the lush "Sweetie" and the feel-good bounce of "Hollywood Bass
Player".

Josh Rouse's music has been earning the singer an ever-growing coterie of
admirers and an endless stream of critical accolades since Dressed Up Like
Nebraska, his stunning 1998 debut. His knack for penning timeless tunes can
be heard on albums such as Home, Under Cold Blue Stars, and 1972. Country
Mouse City House amply demonstrates what his fans and supporters already
know--Josh Rouse's songs find the sweet spot between pleasure and pain, and
lift up the listener with emotionally succinct, telling lyrics and sweet,
intensely felt melodies.

Don't miss Josh Rouse with special guests on Monday, September 24th at The
Plaza Club.

**GENERAL ADMISSION / LICENSED SHOW 19+**

After a sold out show at Richard's in April, Mute Math returns to play
Vancouver's most beautiful venue, the Commodore Ballroom.

Creatively ambitious from the outset, Mute Math dove headfirst into exploring
a new definition on how a rock band should sound and perform. Using homemade
instruments and live sampling, the New Orleans band is innovative, soaring,
and atmospheric, and builds a captivating soundscape of experimental rock
drenched in irresistible hooks.

The group's creativity carries over into self-promotion as well, with ideas
like chronicling its shows on a video blog helping to spread Mute Math's
fanbase worldwide. Through word of mouth, the quartet was soon selling out
shows in L.A., New York, and Nashville, among other cities. Last year, the
band appeared on the covers of Billboard and Pollstar, was featured in
Alternative Press and Paste, and became one of 32 finalists in Spin.com's
Artist of the Year contest. As well, Mute Math played Lollapalooza, Bonnaroo,
the Van's Warped Tour and CMJ. Warner Bros. re-released MM's self-titled
debut full-length, which debuted at #17 on Billboard's Heatseekers chart.
More recently, the band has been opening for The Fray.

Don't Miss Mute Math with special guests on Monday, September 17 at the
Commodore Ballroom.

THEY MIGHT BE GIANTS

Tickets also available at Zulu and Highlife

Children's music, soundtracks, daily songs, collaborations with hip authors
-is there anything They Might Be Giants can't do? The answer is a sound and
unequivocal, "No." Well, maybe they couldn't win a UFC bout. But even then,
you never know. The Brooklyn duo of John Flansburgh and John Linnell have had
a long and storied career, ever since playing together for the first time in
1982. With the release of their debut in 1986 the band began a recording
career that has seen such winning releases as Lincoln, Flood, and The Spine,
and songs like "Ana Ng", "Birdhouse In Your Soul" and "Don't Let's Start".
Their latest, The Else, is everything we've come to know and love about a
They Might Be Giants record-great, quirky melodies, funny, astute lyrics, and
creatively weird arrangements.

In their quarter-century of existence, the prolific duo have done it their
way, from their dial-a-song service to the podcast the Johns have been
broadcasting monthly since 2005. Though perhaps best known as an alt-rock
act, They Might Be Giants has also recorded award-winning kids' albums, TV
themes (The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, the Grammy Award-winning Malcolm in
the Middle), and movie soundtracks (the upcoming Coraline). Recent projects
include the CD/DVD Venue Songs, which featured tunes composed during a tour
to capture the spirit of each night's venue. The group was the subject of
Gigantic: A Tale of Two Johns, an acclaimed 2003 documentary. They Might Be
Giants have had three top ten alternative radio singles, and broken the UK
top ten twice with "Birdhouse In Your Soul" and "Boss of Me". They have sold
over 4 million records worldwide.

Don't miss They Might Be Giants with special guests on Tuesday, September
25th at the Commodore Ballroom.

**GENERAL ADMISSION / ALL AGES**

After touring with Sounds of the Underground Europe, Ozzfest 2006, Gwar and
DragonForce, All That Remains is embarking on its first headlining tour in
support of its latest record The Fall of Ideals. Where 2004's This Darkened
Heart was the quintet's breakthrough to a wider audience, The Fall of Ideals
ups the ante with pieces that are more aggressive, and more accessible as
well.

Since leaving a stamp on the underground metal scene with its 2002 debut
Behind Silence and Solitude, All That Remains has become one of the most
talked-about heavy acts in the metal scene. All That Remains' desire to
continually evolve, yet retain its trademark heavy and technically skilled
sound, makes it one of the most exciting metal bands of its time. With The
Fall of Ideals, All That Remains has truly come into its own.
