MuteMath goes loud.

Now then, isn't MuteMath interesting?? Curiosity-seekers out in droves, this band did not disappoint,. While the stage at Richards was awfully small for their antics, their lighting gear all scrunched up around the back close enough to burn some bottoms, they made the most of the stage space by such ingenious methods as standing on top of an unsually-stable organ. Near-panicked clapping and frenzied dancing were the norm, the audience was enraptured by the theatrics, and I for one was rather impressed with the gymnastic ability of these guys as a whole. Double-drumming, vicious, tribal pounding.... while occasionally the music itself was nothing to sneeze at, the performance utterly was one to see. Worth it just to see the inverted-keyboard-leaping moves. And, a keytar. That's right. See it? Look closely. Still one of the most ungainly instruments ever created this side of a harp, it nonetheless drips swank and instantly makes anyone who plays one cooler than you. Okay so media was limited for this show, and we had to give you an indication of the gig's energy with only a covert cell-phone-camera photo op, but maybe you'll get the point. Big ups to Riley Richter for donating the shot and for grooving sufficiently.
