JOSS STONE
WITH RYAN SHAW AND JAVIER
MONDAY, MAY 21ST
COMMODORE BALLROOM
VANCOUVER, BC
DOORS 7:00 pm SHOW 8:00 pm
**GENERAL ADMISSION/EARLY SHOW**
Though only 19, Joss Stone has already had an enviable career. She's sold 7.5
million records, been nominated for Grammy Awards, and appeared onstage with
James Brown, the Rolling Stones, Stevie Wonder, Elton John, and Donna Summer.
Her 2003 debut The Soul Sessions and 2004's Mind, Body, Soul established her
as one of the most promising singers of her generation. An interview with
Oprah Winfrey, the cover of Elle and performing at the Superbowl pre-game
show in 2006 capped a spectacular few years. Yet Introducing Joss Stone shows
a whole new dimension to the young soul belter. It's the first record to
reveal Joss's full potential, and the creative artist she is capable of
being. With the aid of neo-soul stalwart Raphael Saadiq (Common, the Roots),
Introducing Joss Stone blends the digital crispness of modern R&B with the
singer's agile, husky tone and her preferred flavours of retro-swooping
Motown-style strings, girl-group background vocals, gutbucket soul guitar.
Songs like the summery "Girl They Won't Believe It" and the first single
"Tell Me 'Bout It" hover magnificently between eras on an album where the
sonic textures are compelling, the melodies stick, and the grooves are
irresistible.
With appearances on The Late Show with David Letterman, The Today Show, and
The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson, Joss is getting the word out about
the album, and the accompanying tour that's sure to be one of the hottest
tickets of the year.

VANCOUVER, BC
DOORS 8:00 pm SHOW 9:00 pm
**GENERAL ADMISSION**
Joseph Arthur has made his reputation as a first-class singer/songwriter and
a unique performer, one who, through experimenting with tape loops and
distortion, is a veritable one-man band. Discovered by Peter Gabriel, who
released Joseph's 1997 debut Big City Secrets on his Real World label, the
Ohio-raised, NYC-based artist has released several critically acclaimed
albums, including Come to Where I'm From, Redemption's Son, and Our Shadows
Will Remain. The records combine Joseph's classic songwriting skills with
ambitious, ear-catching production. He has toured with Ben Harper, Gomez, and
Tracy Chapman. Michael Stipe (REM) and Chris Martin (Coldplay) recorded his
song "In the Sun" for the Hurricane Katrina Relief program. Joseph Arthur's
music has appeared on TV series The O.C., Dawson's Creek, Scrubs, and The L
Word, and in movies such as The Bourne Identity and Shrek 2.
In the fall of last year, Joseph released Nuclear Daydream, one of his most
praised releases yet ("A mature effort that shines with nakedness and
clarity," said Billboard). To coincide with his brand new release, Let's Just
Be, Joseph is embarking on a six-week tour.

THE CLIKS
with special guesTS THE SMEARS and FLOODLIGHT
MONDAY, APRIL 16TH
THE MEDIA CLUB
VANCOUVER, BC
DOORS 8:00 pm SHOW 8:30 pm
**GENERAL ADMISSION**
After playing a series of showcase dates during Canadian Music Week and South
By Southwest, The Cliks' buzz-band status was cemented. Media from across
North America were quick to weigh in with praise for the Toronto-based band's
dynamic, exciting live performances. Of the group¹s performance at the Rivoli
in Toronto during CMW, Chart magazine wrote, "The Cliks are for real. Don't
expect cheesy, drippy bubblegum pop-rock from this good-looking and styling
group. From the first note, chord and beat, they hammer their balls-to-wall
rock." Following their SXSW showcase, the Boston Globe wrote "The Cliks...
rocked with primal, stylish ferocity reminiscent of the early Pretenders."
Like The Cliks' live shows, the band's new album Snakehouse (Silver
Label/Tommy Boy in the U.S., Kindling Music/Warner Music in Canada) is primal
rock 'n' roll full of unguarded emotionality and gutsy sexuality. "Oh Yeah",
"Complicated", "Leading Me On", and the trio's transformation of Justin
Timberlake's "Cry Me a River" into a seething rock anthem driven by a
hopped-up reggae groove are proven crowd favourites and irrepressibly catchy
tunes. This spring, The Cliks launch a headlining tour of North America
before taking part in the first annual True Colors Tour with Cyndi Lauper,
Erasure and Debbie Harry, and hosted by comedian Margaret Cho.
A hard-rocking four-piece from Vancouver, The Smears are fronted by a
world-class belter in lead singer Rene Botha. It's Rene's voice, along with
the band's stinging rock 'n' roll attack on top-notch songs like "Wish You
Would" and "So Scared", that make Asthenic Process one of the brashest rock
'n' roll debuts of the year.
Don't pass up your chance to see The Cliks with special guests The Smears and
Floodlight on April 16th at The Media Club.

MARK ROBERTSON
with special guesT ROZ BELL
FRIDAY, APRIL 20TH
THE MEDIA CLUB
VANCOUVER, BC
DOORS 6:00 pm SHOW 6:30 pm
**EARLY SHOW/GENERAL ADMISSION**
Mark Robertson, frontman for Montreal collective Bullfrog, is striking out on
his own. Following his well-received EP Deeper Shade of Green he is releasing
his full-length debut this spring. Favorite People was recorded by Mark along
with Bullfrog and Slim Williams, with Kid Koala acting as co-producer. The
album brings to the fore Robertson's new sound, which harkens back to his
singer-songwriter/busking days along with soul, jazz and funk influences.
As frontman for Bullfrog and lead guitarist for Kid Koala, Mark has played
opening slots and headlining shows all over North America and Europe. He has
been called "humourous, amiable and un-demandingly funky" by Wallpaper
magazine and a "masterful" lead guitarist by Jam Base. Rolling Stone says he
"taps into the Prince/Sly/P-Funk zone with ease." To promote the release of
Favorite People, he is taking the Robertson live experience on the road.
Don't miss Mark Robertson with special guest Roz Bell on Friday, April 20th
