BLONDE REDHEAD
WITH SPECIAL GUESTS

FRIDAY APRIL 20TH
COMMODORE BALLROOM
VANCOUVER, BC
DOORS 8:00 pm SHOW 9:30 pm

When it comes to hip cache, Blonde Redhead is second to none. The art-noise
trio comprised of Kazu Makino and the brothers Pace (Simone and Amadeo) has
been on the cutting edge of the New York art-rock scene since its first,
mid-’90s releases.
The group’s breakthrough came in 2000 with Melody of Uncertain Lemons, a disc
that found a balance between Blonde Redhead’s discordant guitar noise and its
softer, more melodic side. The record went on to sell over 50,000 copies, and
pushed the band to the forefront of the indie-rock scene. Its audience
continued to grow, mostly through word-of-mouth, and by the 2003 disc Misery
is a Butterfly, Blonde Redhead’s voice had become stronger, clearer, and more
distinctive. Along with its records, the band’s cathartic live
performances-with the almost psychic interplay between the three
members--have given the unit a reputation as one of the most intense acts in
rock, though its offbeat, boundary-pushing music has also gained the
attention of jazz festival organizers and audiences. Along with a tour, a new
album is expected in early 2007.
