After having a slew of boring singersongwriter albums, I was fearing this might be another one for the pile. But the opening track, "Free My Hands" is this plunky, fun, slightly-evil sounding rollickfest of thuds and chipper guitars, cascading vocals and grittiness. The main perk of this album is the unusual timing of everything. "Where I Belong" begins with a sharply-twisting guitar line, heavy, and unexpectedly jumping from one note to the next. Something about this is very similar to some of Live's late-90's work. Definitely a dark sound to everything - gospel, rainy meadows. Yeah I really like this album.
