Okay, so it's Six Questions...
(Cord Magazine's questions are in blue. Artist responses are in grey.)
What do you do when you’re on downtime?
Wow. I’m a father… so I see my kids. I try to get back on a schedule, ‘cause when you’re on the road it always goes out the window. I try to get back into exercising and I don’t really drink when I’m home either. It’s nice to take a break from all the stupid things you do when you’re on the road.
What’s your vice of choice?
I really like red wine. That’s the vice of choice.
What’s your favorite city / country / continent to play?
You know it’s weird. My favorite to country to tour is Canada. With this current tour we’ve been all over the world and I’ve been most excited about getting home and touring Canada… especially with this record because it’s done well. Or… Ireland. I could easily live in Ireland.
What aspects in the world concern you the most?
It’s kinda a scary time. I guess right now I’m concerned with the US election, and hope that they’ll have a more sane government in there. ‘Cause then I think the whole world will be able to relax a bit. (Laughs)
You take on countless hours of press. What’s the one interview question you hope nobody ever asks you again?
Hmmm… The press always has this slant, where they try to paint a sad portrait, because I haven’t had the kinda success that other people haven’t had. But for me, it’s nothing I’ve ever lost sleep over… because I feel so lucky that I can make a living making records and going on tour.
What was your favorite Saturday morning cartoon?
(Laughs) I guess Scooby-Do, I suppose. Any show where they were solving mysteries was exciting to me.
What did you want to be when you were growing up, and you can’t say musician?
A detective… solving mysteries.

If you could trade places with anyone for one day, who would it be, and why?
I would have always loved to be there when Buddy Holly was recording his last session. Maybe I could have been Buddy Holly as he recorded that last session. He recorded 3 songs live in one night, off the floor, with a full orchestra behind him. I always thought that would be pretty special.
A shark and a bear fight. Here are the rules: The water for the shark is just deep enough for him to exist, and there's a small rock in the middle of the water on which the bear may stand. Neither has been trained, and neither has been fed for a few days. It's the baddest of grizzly bears against the baddest of Great White sharks. Who wins?
I’d have to go with the grizzly bear. Why, what do most people say to that? (laughs)
If you could ask me one question, what would it be?
Yeah! Who’s winning the US election right now?
Ha! Well, it’s 4:30pm… and it’s a tie. I am so biting my nails right off tonight.
