Ten Questions with Sam Roberts in London. (well eight official ones cause I couldn’t remember them all!)

(Cord Magazine's questions are in blue. Artist responses are in grey.)

What do you do in your down time?

There is no down time.

What’s your favourite Saturday morning cartoon?

Ever? Uh………………The Inhuminoids. Back in the eighties.

What’s your favourite city and venue to play?

Long pause. I like playing in Vancouver at The Commodore. I can’t say that’s my favourite place in the world. That’s one of my favourite places to play. I like playing in Newfoundland as well. Specific venue I don’t think it matters, that’s just a matter of circumstance.

What did you want to be when growing up?

A guy in a rock n roll band. I’m not shitting you. That’s just it.

If you could trade places with anyone for a day who would you chose?

Probably that guy over there (points to guy lounging on his back, reading a book in the park). That’d be nice. Simple things I want from life (laughs).

What’s one question you never want to be asked again?

What are you thinking?

Hmm. That’s a terrible question. With all the things going on the world right now, what’s the one thing that scares you the most? And you can’t say spiders. That’s been taken.

Is George W. Bush a spider?

Hmm. no. I think spiders are much more friendly.

Uh, the thing that frightens me the most? Nothing is more scary than George Bush.

Bear Vs. Shark? Small pool, small rock, no training, no food. Fight to the death, who wins?

Definitely the bear.

Bear?

Yeah, ten out of ten.

MANAGER – What kind of bear?

Doesn’t matter. Even a Megaladon would have a tough time with a grizzly. (Laughs)

(It’s all right that there's only eight questions here. I think we here at Cord know Roberts well enough to answer the “Vice of choice” question for him. Who wants whiskey?)
